In the beginning, anything is possible.

In : Visible  (Verna Vogel)

Everything has its layers.  Some layers are readily visible, others less so.  Seeing can occur through the eyes, the hands, the heart.  Seeing might be a visitation, a tacit agreement, an understanding of the spirit.

Seen : Unseen  (Claudia Lorenz)

We experience layers of personal connection through identity, belonging, melancholy and the passage of time.  Working with layers of mixed-media collage, Claudia explores new techniques and further develops her interest in compositional shapes, in an ongoing expansion of her practice.

In the end, some possibilities are realized.  We Envision the expansion of artworks created by us and by workshop participants, and present an exhibition in celebration of possibility.

Claudia Lorenz

My name is Claudia Lorenz, I am a mixed media artist seeking to explore the passage of time and the fragments of life that come and go. Drawing inspiration from my own experiences, I delve into themes of nostalgia and introspection. My art has been exhibited locally here in Calgary, Alberta where I live with my husband and two teenage sons.

I use collage and mixed media to capture the essence of time's passage. My artwork combines layers of vintage materials with paint and mark-making to create textures that blend nostalgia with renewal.

Black is nearly always present in my work as it represents the darkness that every life encounters. Each piece invites viewers to explore themes of longing and melancholy, reflecting on personal memories and the shadows that accompany life's journey.
