r u home yet
Nyx Orr & Abigail Monarrez
r u home yet, is a formation of two queer, mixed POC, early career artists, who are on a journey of healing and growth through art. We create sustainable, interdisciplinary art that is centred around community and play. We love to blend movement, poetry, theatre, and visual arts. Art is fun, and should be something that helps you discover something new about yourself and the world. Through recycling materials, theatrical performances, and art-making workshops, we hope to make space for people to witness each other as they explore their creativity and as we explore ours. Hey it’s Nyx and Abby, r u home yet? Ur welcome to make one with us.
Abigail Monarrez
Abby is an emerging creator and professional attempter of many things. She is known for trying on many hats such as muralist, scenic painter, actor, teacher, dancer and writer. She finds joy in getting her hands and painting clothes dirty. Abby is enrolled at the University of Calgary as a Visual Studies Major, Drama Minor, with Concurrent Education. She is on the endless quest to make art that combines her love of art and drama in a way that moves people.
Nyx Orr
Nyx is a queer, non-binary theatre artist based in Alberta. They find inspiration in people, in puddles, in poetry, and in the treasures found in the depths of trash cans. They love to act, clown, move, and devise their way through theatres and found spaces. They are passionate about sustainability and are always working to find ways to make climate conscious art. Nyx is the Co-Creator of the r u home yet collective, and has worked in various roles with the Major Matt Mason Collective, Wagonstage Children’s Theatre, Theatre Xtra, Canadian Academy of Mask and Puppetry, and Nickel and Dime Student Theatre.
