Some things just go together, like curiosity and creativity. These two elements guide us into playful art-making. Join us this August; in the Spirit of summer. Watch, learn, and get inspired as the walls of the Sparrow Artspace fill with new art created by Sheila and Roxana. Join in mini-workshops on Saturdays to play with shapes and colours. Take the time to focus on finding your strength in creativity and moving forward to find joy in art making. Open to the public Thursday to Saturday 11-6 daily, each day is a new day to be inspired.
About Sheila & Roxana
Sheila Schaetzle
Over a lifetime art has challenged me and inspired me to fill my life with things I love. Writing, drawing, painting and teaching. I've come to know my strength in using simplified shapes, rhythmic movement, and organized elements; with a sense of truth and balance. I paint in acrylic but will draw on any of the many mediums found in my studio; like watercolour pencil and chalk pastels. From graphite to paint I look for the simplest way to express the subject. My art is not about perfection; as nature is my inspiration and nature is not perfect.
Roxana Najar
Roxana was born in Mexico City and has lived in Calgary for the past 28 years. As a business owner her exposure to art and culture has evolved from high end fashion to exquisite jewellery. Her boutique store fronts featured Rox Gems for 16 years in Calgary Her current venture involves fine art; exposing her creative nature and embracing her heritage. Movement, line and colour accentuates her artwork. Roxana works in oils, acrylic and mixed media, each medium reflects the mood of the day.
