Are you a fibre/textile enthusiast looking to find local options? Are you curious about fibre in Canada and wondering if there will ever be a strong domestic fibre culture? Do you hanker for a local, transparent and resilient supply chain or the chance to learn some of these traditional skills yourself? Are you concerned about animal welfare within the fibre industry and interested in the potential of regenerative agriculture and fibre farms?
Join us as we take a deep dive into fibre – from a shepherd’s perspective. My name is Tara Klager and I am the shepherd here at Providence Lane Homestead, Canada's only Animal Welfare Approved fibre farm. I’m a first-generation fibre farmer and I am so excited to be passing along some of what I’ve learned – often the hard way – through the five years I’ve been stewarding our homestead here on Treaty 7 territory, the traditional home of the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Stoney Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.
Workshops are held virtually during a live Zoom session, so please ensure that you have the Zoom program installed on your device and reliable internet connection.
