Box Journaling Workshop

  • Sparrow Artspace 36 4 St NE Calgary Canada (map)

Welcome back to Jake Joy who was Sparrow’s artist-in-resident in October. Join Jake to draw, chat, and drink tea, as she takes you through a journaling process that has helped her find peace and movement through personal difficulties and challenges faced over the last couple of years.

A journaling workshop that combines creativity with cognitive processing. Transformative healing can take place through journaling when emotions and thoughts are explored together. We use colour and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques to process through difficult times so we can flourish and tap into our natural resiliency. Although this is not an afternoon of therapy - this practice is therapeutic and can be used at home in your daily routine.

Jake Joy is a professional artist and teacher and now a counselling therapist in training. She has combined her experiences and skills in order to develop a new journaling approach. "I can say this method has brought the value of journaling back into my life. I used to dread journaling, now I love it!" She wants to share her breakthrough method with you.

Bring your own sketchbook and a few colourful markers, pencil crayons, or watercolour set, and a favourite pen or two.
